Chocolate chip cookies

Honesly, I don't know how I kept this recipe database for so long without ever adding chocolate chip cookies. It's been quite a journey to find chocolate chip cookies that I like, but I got one! The chocolate chips themselves I think make the biggest difference: I use chocolate chunks from 'Hagelswag' (with added caramel because #swag). I like cacao-based chocolate chips a lot better than real chocolate it turns out. Well, the more you know...

So, here's the recipe:

Chocolate chips
Makes about 20 - from Koekjesbijbel

140 grams butter
100 grams sugar
110 grams dark brown sugar
vanilla sugar (optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
210 grams flour *
1,5 teaspoons baking powder *
150 grams chocolate chips or 'hagelslag chunks' **

1. Cream tthe butter with the sugars and salt.
2. Add the egg and whisk until incorporated.
3. Sift the flour with the baking powder. Knead the flour through the butter.
4. Lastly, knead the chocolate chips through the dough and create balls of dough.
5. Place the doughballs on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for about 10-15 minutes at 175 degrees Celsius. 10 minutes with create a much softer chewy cookie, 15 minutes will give you a much crunchier cookie. Leave the cool on the tray once they're out of the oven - they'll be very soft and break easily.

* Substitute with selfraising flour if you like! Or, take out 2-3 spoons of flour and replace with cacao for double chocolate chip cookies.
** I eyeball how many chocolate chips I feel like. Usually it's a lot more than the recipe states.

I hope you have a lovely day wherever you are!
